I update these web pages steps by steps after having sorted some of the pictures shot in the field. After doing a selection, I make groups of 100 pictures. The archival, telling species apart (when I can), the collection of documentation and information about the new species (between 5 and 15 in a group of 100 pictures) and the update of this web site last between one and two months. As the number of new pictures (I am sometimes shutter addict) is greater than the number of sorted pictures, the shift between the date of the picture and the publishing date is always increasing. This not a particular problem, you just need to be patient to see my progress in photography. This update includes two new moth species, the Satellite (as a caterpillar) and the Light Emerald , with a new microlepidoptera species, the Small Barred Long-horn. Let's go on with one new bird species, the Black Kite. There are then eight other new insect species, the Narcissus Bulb Fly, Rhagio vitripennis, the Iris Seed Weevil, Liophloeus tessulatus, Empis tessellata, Agriotes pilosellus, the Lesser Stag Beetle, and at least the Pellucid Fly. This update finishes with my bird watching results in the northern part of the Netherlands and goes on with my spring observations ... in April 2011! You will then find three new Bird species, the Fieldfare, the Western Marsh-harrier and the Eurasian Spoonbill. Dealing with insects, I have created one page for the Tipula of the lunatipula subgenus. Concerning Arachnids, welcome to Heliophanus cupreus. I have also replaced the page on the Cucumber Green Spider by one page dedicated to the Araniella genus. The previous page was having many errors because of unreliable sources and personal mistakes caused by bad understanding. The new page is based on information from the web site araneae spiders of Europe and on a scientific study of the German arachnologist Peter Sacher dealing with the visibility of the dots on the spiders of this genus. I have only found it in Norwegian language so I now may have added my own misunderstandings to the errors of automatic translation tools ... Doing this, one picture of an Enoplognatha of the ovata group was classified, by error, as Araniella. I have fixed this identification error and I have created the matching page. |

About presentation you will notice than some pages with thumbnails, whose size was becoming too large, have been modified so that they are not totally displayed at first load. You need to click on an arrow at the bottom of the page to display the following thumbnails. Then the time to load at first connexion is reduced. Those who want to browse thru the whole page will have some additional mouse clicks to perform. Also, in some pages that I call "detailed pages" (in which I wanted to add some information about families - will I take time to do this one day?), informations are now displayed on demand using buttons. This update mainly includes some ornithological observations done in the Netherlands. Having to do a quick trip to Den Helder, I have taken an extra vacation day to go to the Texel Island. Unfortunately I have not been very lucky and I have got bad weather. Then you will find thirteen new bird species, the Common Eider, the Common Shelduck, the Meadow Pipit, the Common Gull, the Greylag Goose, the Brant Goose, the Eurasian Curlew, the Eurasian Oystercatcher, the Gadwall, the Tufted Duck, the Eurasian Wigeon, the Bar-tailed Godwit and the Black-tailed Godwit . Let's finish with one new moth species, the Small Engrailed, one new diptera species, the Window Gnat and one new arachnid species, Zygiella x-notata. |
