Caterpillar: Bright green with red dorsal spots, one lateral spot on each of the two first abdominal segments.
Host plant: European Spindle (Euonymus europaeus).

The Scorched Carpet shows a bright white to creamy white ground colour.
The basal area of the fore wings is dark brown with sometimes some blue grey colour.
They show a wavy dark brown submarginal band with a sharp edge towards the centre of the wing and a more diffuse edge towards the margin.
The hind wings are whitish with a more greyish submarginal area marked with a zigzag pale line. The hind wings' outer edge is slightly wavy.
The Scotched Carpet over winters as a pupa.

Scorched Carpet (Ligdia adustata)
This specimen does not show any submarginal greyish area on the hind wings.
With a close look you can guess the zigzag pale line.
