The most noticeable characteristics of Pleurota aristella are its hairy labial palps extending forwards to form some kind of a snout shape.
The eyes are red.
The fore wings are pale brown and show a white central longitudinal stripe running from the base of the wings to the margin. The costal edge also shows a thin white border.
The hind wings are a darker greyish brown colour with long hairs on the fringe.
There is a possible confusion with the White-streak Grass-veneer (Agriphila latistria) of the Pyralidae family. This last species has more conical-shaped palps. The eyes are blackish grey. There is no white border on the costal edge and the hind wings are a paler colour.
The other members of the Pleurota genus do not show a so well mark white central longitudinal stripe on the fore wings.

Pleurota aristella
It's not easy to find a clear angle of view among thistles and high grasses.
The shape of the snout, the red eyes and the well marked white longitudinal stripes (an upper side view would have been better) indicate the Pleurota aristella species.
