Xylophanes amadis shows a whitish dorsal band on the upper side of the thorax which does not extend over the abdomen. The upper side of the abdomen bears two rows of dark green spots located at the hind margin of the tergites. The fore wings are green and become brown with age. The apex is pointed and slightly curved. The costal edge is marked with a white line followed by a dark green line. The postmedial band is dark green and marked with a white line at the front. There is a row of black submarginal dots, one small black discal spot followed by a larger diffuse dark patch. The hind wings are black with a buff median stripe interrupted by black patches over the veins. |
