Physiphora alceae shows a tawny head with two very large red-striped eyes. The thorax is golden green. The abdomen is shiny greenish black. The wings are translucent with pale yellow veins. The legs are black except the base of the fore tarsi, the mid tarsi and the hind tarsi which are yellow. Males perform nuptial displays by lifting up their fore legs and turning around females. |
