Chetone catilina has a black head and a black thorax spotted with white dots. The abdomen is a lighter brown colour. The very dark brown wings show pale yellow markings. The fore wings are crossed by two pale and rather thin diagonal bands which are only interrupted by the dark veins. The band which is closer to the apex seems to be formed by four spots. The spot being next to the margin is slightly separated from the others. The hind wings show a pale yellow area next to the base. It is crossed by dark veins and interrupted in the median area by a dark line. Both wings show white dots in the marginal area. The similar species of the Notophyson genus show substantially wider bands on the fore wings. The dark area located between the two pale bands is thinner than the bands themselves. On Chetone catilina, the dark area between the bands is substantially wider than the bands themselves. Phaloe ignita shows one pale patch next to the base of the fore wings and the first diagonal cross band is clearly interrupted. |
