The Dyomyx genus includes 24 species. These are moths with wide and rounded wings. Dyomyx guenei does not show any short tail on the hind wings. The fore wings bear a large rounded eyespot next to the inner edge. They are crossed by straight oblique brown lines. The ground colour is a rather uniform purple grey colour. The brown lines are bordered with yellow. The brown line at the margin of the wings is thinly outlined with white or yellow. Dyomyx megalops does not show any yellow border on the brown lines. The inner half of the fore wings is more purple blue than the remaining parts of the wings. The white or yellow area bordering the brown line at the margin of the wings on Dyomyx janus is wider and less sharp. There is a pale submarginal line which is slightly wavy. |

I have shot this picture at Roura, at Camps Patawa, during a light trap night session. All what I have read about the border of the marginal line has not really been confirmed by what I have been able to see on pictures. I have chosen Dyomyx guenei here rather than Dyomyx janus because of the lack of a pale submarginal line. |
