Macrophya duodecimpunctata has long antennae like other members of the Tenthredinidae family. The body is black with white-yellow marks on the sides of the abdomen. The scutellum is white. The hips of the hind legs are lengthy so that the femur stands higher than the abdomen. The hind femora are black. The white colour of the apical part of the tibias contrasts with the black colour of the legs. Macrophya alboannulata has a white trochanter (at the base of the hind femur). Macrophya albicincta has black patches on the trochanter. Larvae grow on Graminae and Cyperaceae. |
