The Apiomerus genus includes about 110 species found in North America, Central America and South America. These coloured bugs are used to sitting in wait on leaves or flowers to catch other insects They are also called Bee Assassin. The tarsi at the tip of the legs are very short. There are hairs on the tibiae. These bugs are used to collecting resin on plants and to using it, on their fore legs, to better trap and catch their preys. They also use resin to protect their eggs. |

I have shot this picture at Saül, while walking upwards on the Belvédère footpath. I have listed this insect as Apiomerus cf. venustus as I have found one picture of an almost identical bug, taken in Brazil and identified like that. |
