Actina chalybea is a small black fly with a metallic green thorax. The abdomen is flat. The wings are placed one above the other while resting. The head is as wide as the thorax and shows a rounded front. The forehead and the thorax are covered with long black hairs. The small black antennae are pointed forwards and divergent. The legs are black. The scutellum shows four black spines. The eyes are touching on males and are clearly separated on females. |

This small fly was slowly moving on the lawn. Then I have tried various settings with the flash. There were very few acceptable pictures and I have still to make progress. |

I think that is one is a male as the eyes are almost touching. |
