There are two generations per year. |
You can recognize the grass bugs of the Notostira genus by their elongated body and by the presence of a longitudinal furrow between the eyes. The eyes are very close to the front edge of the pronotum. The pronotum is smooth and not pitted. There are dense dark hairs on the first article of the antennae and on the hind tibias. Males are black on the upper side with yellowish green margins. Females are a lighter colour and resemble Stenodema laevigata. Those of the second brood (in autumn) are more pinkish than those of the first brood (in summer). You cannot separate Notostira elongata from the similar species Notostira erratica with only field pictures and you can only list Notostira sp.. |

The smooth pronotum indicates the Notostira genus. The general colour indicates one male. You can clearly see the dark hairs on the first article of the antennae. Of course there is a remaining doubt between Notostira elongata and Notostira erratica. So we will just list this one as Notostira sp.. |
