The Shaded Broad-bar is very variable in colour. The wings are usually pale brown and crossed by a wide dark grey bar bordered by two thin brown lines. The outer side of the grey bar shows a black spot. There are also black marks near the tip of the wings. The fringe is uniform and self-coloured. The Shaded Broad-bar is active during the day and hibernates as a caterpillar. |

I have observed this Shaded Broad-bar moth among high grasses near a woodland edge. I think I have disturbed it when I walked over there. |

I have only done one observation of Shaded Broad-bar in 2007. I have observed this moth species 3 or 4 times in 2009. |
