Caterpillar: Caterpillars of the Apatelodidae family are usually very hairy and feed on a large variety of broadleaf plants, including trees.
Host plant:

Epia muscosa holds its wings rather far from the body when landed.
It has a strong body and bipectinate antennae. The fore wings are triangular. The hind wings have a more rounded marginal edge but they are usually hidden under the fore wings in resting position.
The fore wings are reddish brown. There is a broad yellowish green marginal border with a reddish brown area next to the anal angle. This marginal band is delimited by a thin dark line.
The costal edge is marked with a triangular yellowish green patch.
The hind wings are brown with a yellow patch at the anal angle and sometimes some submarginal yellow spots.
Epia muscosa is active during the night.

I have shot this picture at Roura, at Camps Patawa, during a light trap night session.
A true macro flash would have permitted to avoid the dark shadows which badly affect this picture.
