Scientific name: Drugera arida (Schaus,1905) Common name: Other names: I have also found Meragisa arida whose description seems to match. However I have not seen it listed as a synonym. French name: Order: Lepidoptera Suborder: Heterocera Family: Notodontidae Subfamily: Heterocampinae Wingspan: About 45 mm. Biotope: Geographic area: Flight time: Number of generations : Caterpillar: Host plant: |
Drugera arida has a hairy body and pale grey wings sprinkled with brownish. The basal area of the fore wings is crossed by a broad russet stripe followed by a dark brown diffuse mark. Then you can see a postmedial line and a submarginal line both made up of alignments of whitish dots hardly visible on the very light ground colour of the wings. |

I have shot this picture at Roura, at Camps Patawa, during a light trap night session. There is a remaining doubt with Meragisa arida, in case this other scientific name applies to a different species. |
