Harpactea hombergi (Scopoli, 1763)

Size: 6 to 8 mm for females, 4.5 to 6 mm for males.
Biotope: Forests, heathlands, gardens but also inside buildings.
Web: No web. Spiders of the Harpactea genus look for food at night, on the ground or on trunks. They hide in a silken retreat during the day.
Observation period: All year round.
Geographic area: Europe east to Ukraine.

Harpactea hombergi has a slender and elongated abdomen. It is a pale greyish brown colour with a whitish tip.
The cephalothorax is dark brown.
The legs are long and clearly ringed with brown, orange and whitish. Femurs 3 and 4 bear each 4 dorsal spines.
As the other members of the same family Harpactea hombergi has only 6 eyes.
Harpactea rubicunda does not show ringed legs.

Harpactea hombergi
I have shot this picture of Harpactea hombergi inside the house.
You cannot clearly see the pedipalps but the very slender abdomen seems to indicate one male.
