You can easily tell the Sulphur beetle apart with its bright greenish yellow colour (or sulphur yellow colour). The head, the thorax and the legs are often a little darker than the elytra with a more orange colour. The eyes and the tip of the antennae are black. The larvae grow close to the ground where they feed on rotting wood, decaying roots and stems. You can find one variant with completely black antennae and tarsi. It is sometimes considered as a separate species: Cteniopus sulphuripes. |

I have not observed any proliferation of this species on this calcareous meadow of the region of Paris. I have only observed a few isolated beetles. |
