Size: Body size: 18 to 23 cm; Weight: 32 to 43 g; Wingspan: 38 to 41 cm.
Habitat: Open areas with isolated trees, villages and urban areas.
Food: Insects often caught in flight, berries and fruits.
Nesting: The cup-shaped nest is located rather high on a fork of an isolated tree. There is one clutch of two to four eggs per year.
Migration: Northern populations move southwards in winter.
Geographic area: South of the United States, Central America, South America down to central Argentina.

The Tropical Kingbird has a pale grey head with a darker band on the eyes.
The wings and the tail are blackish with thin white borders on the wing feathers. The upper side of the body is olive green.
The underside of the body is bright yellow. The chest is greenish yellow.
The blackish bill is rather long and strong. The legs are blackish.
Both sexes are similar.

Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus)
I have shot this picture in the small village of Saül where you can even find a sport field.
I do not know if the football goals are often used but they make a perfect support to perch in wait for flying insects.
