The upper side of Pareuptychia lydia's wings is white beige. The fore wings are dark brown on one third close to the margin. The hind wings show a dark brown area next to the apex. The underside of the wings is whitish and crossed by two brownish bands. You can also see some very small lines close to the base and a more brownish colour next to the margin. The underside of the hind wings shows two thin dark brown submarginal lines, the one on the inner side of the wings being clearly zigzag-shaped. You can also see one zigzag-shaped submarginal line on the underside of the fore wings but it is hardly visible as it is located on a darker ground colour. You can see four black eyespots, circled with orange and pupiled with pale blue. The larger one is located at the anal angle of the hind wings and it is pupiled with two or three dots. Then you will find one at the apex of the fore wings and another one at the apex of the hind wings with a very small one very close. |
