Schiffermuelleria schaefferella is a very nice small moth showing a beautiful yellow colour on the fore wings with brown at the base and at the margin. The fore wings are crossed by a silvery median line, thinly bordered with brown. This line is followed by two or three longitudinal marks of the same colour and by one spot near the apex of the wing. The hind wings are dark brown. The fringes are made up of long brown hairs. The tip of the antennae is white. Schiffermuelleria grandis is very similar but shows, in addition, white spots on the marginal area of the fore wings. Chrysoesthia drurella is a smaller size. The marks at the back of the cross line are not longitudinally dash-like shaped but rather appear as irregular spots. There are silvery marks just at the back of the head. The tip of the antennae is not white. Heliodines roesella is also a small size. The marks at the back of the cross line are rather cross oriented. They touch the costal edge of the wing. |

Though its beautiful colours, this small moth, observed in woodlands, is very difficult to see because of its very small size. |
