Capsodes gothicus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Scientific name: Capsodes gothicus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Common name:
French name:
Order: Heteroptera
Family: Miridae
Wingspan : 5.8 to 7 mm.
Biotope: Grass lands.
Geographic area: Palaearctic region, from Spain to China.
Observation period : May to August.

Bugs of the Capsodes genus are black in colour with red, orange or whitish markings. The head is rather short and wide. The antennae, of four articles, are entirely black.
Capsodes gothicus shows dark brown to black erected hairs on the upper side of the body. The outer edges of the pronotum, the scutellum and the tips of the corium are orange-red or yellow. The outer edge of the corium is usually a little lighter.
The pronotum ends in a fairly thick apical ring, thicker than the first article of the antennae.
There is no orange or pale midline on the pronotum.
The length of the second article of the antennae is substantially equal to the sum of the lengths of the third and fourth articles.
Capsodes flavomarginatus, Capsodes sulcatus and Capsodes mat show a yellow, white, orange or red midline on the pronotum.

Capsodes gothicus
Erected hairs are not very visible on this picture but it seems to me that the lack of a midline on the pronotum indicates Capsodes gothicus.
The strong thickness of the apical ring of the pronotum also leads to this species.
