Host plant: Dandelions (Taraxacum officinale). Caterpillars feed on roots.

The fore wings of the Barred Marble are variable in colour. The most common forms are pale brown or reddish brown mixed with pale grey. You can distinguish a dense network of dark lines covering all the wings.
They are crossed by a well-marked dark brown median band.
Another band of the same colour sometimes extends in the form of a curve in the post-discal area between the apex and the tornus.
The hind wings are brownish grey.
The Barred Marble is attracted to light.

Barred Marble (Celypha striana)
This Barred Marble must have been attracted to light as I found it inside the house.
The marbled wings crossed by a median band and a curved post-discal band are typical of this species.
