Males Dorytomus longimanus are characterized by very very long fore legs. Females have normal size fore legs.
The rostrum is elongated and shiny black coloured.
There is a pale form with a pale brown body slightly marbled with darker marks, and a dark form, almost black with pale hairs.
Larvae grow on Poplars, in catkins or young shoots.

This Curculionidae stayed perfectly immobile during the photo session in spite of a photograph, on hands and knees, getting very close to it.

Dorytomus longimanus
A plantation of poplars in the vicinity may explain the observation of Dorytomus longimanus at this place.
I have found it among vegetation near the ground.
