Rifargia felderi belongs to group of species which are difficult to tell apart on pictures. You need then to use the known geographical range for each species to get an indication. Rifargia nebulosa is observed in Central America. Rifargia haitia is observed in Haiti. Rifargia bichorda is observed in the Bahamas. Rifargia felderi shows greyish head and thorax. The upper side of the thorax bears a short transverse black mark. The fore wings are white and marked with black lines. You can see a double antemedial line and a double postmedial line on each side of a median band marked with an angulous spot outlined with black. There is a diffuse orange patch next to the apex in the submarginal area. The margin of the wing is decorated by a series of half-circles. The hind wings are white. |

I have shot this picture at Roura, at Camps Patawa, during a light trap night session. I am just a simple amateur, I think that this specimen has all the characteristics of the Rifargia felderi species and that all similar species are not found in French Guiana. A confirmation by an expert would be welcome. |
