Geographic area: Europe and the Mediterranean basin, east to Turkestan. Introduced to the United States of America.
Observation period : Flight period: July to October. Campyloneura virgula overwinters as an adult. New generation nymphs appear in May. Most of the reproduction takes place by parthenogenesis, that is to say without the intervention of males which are very few in number. There is an exception in Sicily and North Africa where the number of males is much greater and where reproduction results from mating.

Campyloneura virgula is a capsid bug with a thin, elongated body that is generally light greenish-brown in colour. The head and the long 4-segmented antennae are black.
The scutellum is bright yellow. The pronotum is bordered with reddish on the lateral sides.
The cuneus is yellow with a red tip.
Nymphs are yellow with red and white ringed antennae and a red line on the sides of the body.
Campyloneura virgula feeds on small insects.

We almost certainly have a female here (although I don't know how to recognize males). I have to document myself or travel to North Africa ;-)
