The Himerarctia genus includes six species which are only observed in the Neotropical region. Himerarctia docis shows brownish fore wings with a narrow red line running from the first quarter of the inner edge to the first quarter of the outer edge. This line is almost parallel to the costal edge to which it is connected by a short ramification at about two third of its length. It seems almost erased by a small rounded brownish spot just before the start of this ramification. The hind wings are brown with a red mark close to the first half of the costal edge. The first segments of the abdomen are red, the following ones are black and marked with metallic blue spots. The upper side of the thorax is black, red and metallic blue with a narrow red stripe curved just at the back of the head. The legs are black with metallic blue markings. |
