Caterpillar: Pale brown marbled with dark reddish brown.
Host plant: Many trees and bushes like Broom (Cytisus scoparius) and Ivy (Hedera spp.).

The Plumed Fan-foot moth shows up-curved labial palps projecting forward like forked "rhinoceros horns".
The fore wings are brown with a dark reniform patch. They are crossed by dark brown and wavy antemedian and postmedian lines, often hardly visible.
The most typical feature, useful to tell the species apart, is the presence of an almost straight pale marginal line on a brown background. The hind wings show a similar line which is aligned with the one on the fore wings when they are held open.

Plumed Fan-foot  (Polypogon plumigeralis)
I have observed several Plumed Fan-foot moths inside the room where I am used to storing my garden tools. Is it because it is next to a wall covered with ivy (which is listed as one host plant among many others)? This is also because I always let the window wide open of course.

I have tried to find a suitable angle to have a nice view of the up-curved and 'horn-shaped" labial palps. The large size of my digital SLR camera with its grip does not allow me to position very close to the wall …

The children are back from the Furia Sound Festival where they camped out for a few nights.
The tent is drying on the terrace.
Did the plumed fan-foot land on the tent because of the colour or because of the moisture?
