Caterpillar: Bright green with a thin yellow line on each side, ending dark green. The head is pale and the tail is thin.
Host plant: Cocksfoot Grass (Dactylis glomerata), Timothy (Phleum pratense) and other graminae.

The upper side of the Marble White's wings shows alternately black and white marks.
Its name comes from the black and white patterns.
