Evacanthus interruptus is a leafhopper with contrasted yellow and black colours. The upper side of the head and pronotum can be totally black or they can show more or less extended yellow markings, in particular a median band on the pronotum. The fore wings are bright yellow with a longitudinal central black band extending over the whole length. It is interrupted by a narrow yellow diagonal stripe. There is one rather rare variant (var. xantha), with uniform yellow wings. Males' wings reach the tip of the abdomen. Those of females are clearly shorter. |
