2006 was a good year for Painted Ladies observation. However, many of the observed butterflies had damaged wings. 2009 was an exceptional year and we have observed many of this migatory butterfly everywhere in France. |

Many painted Ladies came to feed on the Buddleia in 2009. In 2006 they were accompanied by a migratory moth, also coming from the south, the Hummingbird Hawk-moth. This was not the case in 2009, I haven't seen any Hummingbird Hawk-moth in my garden during summer. |

Here is a view of the underside of the wings. Only one lavender plant in a garden allows the observation of many species. |
