The Southern Migrant Hawker can be identified by the iridescent blue colour of the sides of the thorax. They also have very few dark marks. The general colour appears as pale blue. The Southern Migrant Hawker is used to performing slow stationary flights at human height. There is often a confusion with Aeshna mixta. |

This Aeshna, which was flying in the Saint-Trojean forest on the 'île d'Oléron, has only landed during a few seconds, just enough time to shoot one picture. |
