My preferred pictures of 2019

I'm still having a bit of trouble catching up on sorting my shots.
I'm trying to slow down the frequency of my outings in the field, but the urge is too strong and why resist?

California Quail (Callipepla californica(Shaw, 1798)) - Anakiwa, South Island, New Zealand - January 2nd 2019

California Quail (Callipepla californica)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/4, 1/500s, 400ASA. Focus distance: about 5m.
A photogenic bird, good light and the possibility of positioning oneself at ground level to take the photo, the conditions were good for a nice photo.
The large aperture of the diaphragm also allows for a nice uniform background.

Australian Pied Cormorant (Phalacrocorax varius(J.F. Gmelin, 1789)) - Picton, South Island, New Zealand - January 2nd 2019

Australian Pied Cormorant (Phalacrocorax varius)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/5.6, 1/2000s, 400ASA. Focus distance: about 7m.
We observed many Australian Pied Cormorants in Picton Harbour while waiting for the boat that will take us to the North Island.
I don't know what this posture is. Has this Cormorant just swallowed a prey?

New Zealand Fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa(Sparrman, 1787)) - Huka Falls, Taupo, North Island, New Zealand - January 8th 2019

New Zealand Fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/4, 1/160s, 800ASA. Focus distance: about 2m.
The buff-brown eyebrow here must indicate a juvenile New Zealand Fantail.
No matter how much I hoped and asked, I didn't get the tail to fan out :-( … So I framed the photo by cutting the tail.
Is it the fact that it is a juvenile, but I managed to get very close!

(Carrhotus xanthogramma(Latreille, 1819)) - Saône-et-Loire, France - March 30th 2019

 (Carrhotus xanthogramma)
Canon EOS 40D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS lens.
F/7.1, 1/250 s, 800ASA. Focus distance: about 35cm.
I never tire of photographing these little jumping spiders.
