My preferred pictures of 2016

I notice that over time my photographic activity is more oriented towards the search for new species than towards improving my shots.
However I will still continue to post here the ones that I like the most.

European Hornet (Vespa crabro)
Canon EOS 40D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens with extension tubes.
F/5, 1/300 s, 200ASA. Focus distance: about 20cm.
"Stacking photo" of 105 pictures shot with the camera attached to a sliding rail and with a small shift of one tenth of millimetre between each picture.
The combination of pictures has been done with the CombineZP software.
This Hornet was found dead in the bathroom tub. I hooked it in front of a white background.

F/10, 1/160 s, 200ASA. Focus distance: about 15cm.
Merge of two shots, one with the focus on the spider's eyes, the other one with the focus on the prey's eyes.
The merge of the two pictures has been done with the CombineZP software.

Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/4, 1/60s, 400ASA. Focus distance: about: about 3.5m.
I took this photo at the top of the ladder, just before picking cherries so that I had some left over because they also interested a small flock of Parakeets...
