I have more and more difficulties to select pictures to display here. Is this because I am becoming more severe or because my production is of a poor quality?
(Odiellus spinosus(Bosc, 1792)) - Yvelines, France - June 10th 2015
Canon EOS 40D, Canon 24-85mm lenses on 24 mm mounted in reverse.
F/10, 1/100 s, 400ASA, flash. Focus distance: about 7cm.
After having bought a rail to perform "photo stacking" I started to search a living but immobile subject to apply this technique which combines a series of pictures to increase the depth of field with high magnification.
One Odiellus spinosus, immobile on a stone, has been a kind subject this time.
This picture is the combination of 29 shots, shifted each time of one-tenth of millimetre, taken using a reverse-mounted 24 mm lens. The combination of pictures has been done with CombineZP software.
This Odiellus spinosus has been very cooperative but at the thirtieth shot it felt that the lens was too close and it decided to walk to hide under another stone …
I noticed afterwards that the nice view on the ocularium is due to the lack of the first right leg.

Italian Striped-Bug (Graphosoma italicum(Müller, 1766)) - Saône-et-Loire, France - August 20th 2015
Canon EOS 40D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.
F/11, 1/60 s, 400ASA. Focus distance: about 35cm.
I like this picture though it can be improved.
I framed a little low and I cut part of the plant on which is posed this juvenile bug.
There are some unwanted things in the bottom corners. Many people would have stamped the picture in post-processing to remove these things but I forbid myself (except in very rare exceptions) this kind of practice.
