My preferred pictures of 2012

The major event of this year 2012 was certainly this 2-weeks stay in French Guiana.
I have started to test my infrared barrier outdoor but without any success. I have many projects and I have started to build a floating hut, but very slowly as usual.

(Frigga sp.(C. L. Koch, 1850)) - French Guiana, France - March 4th 2012

 (Frigga sp.)
Canon EOS 40D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.
F/5, 1/200 s, 400 ASA. Focus distance: about 20cm.
This picture is cropped.
I have at least succeeded in having the focus plane right on the eyes with a handheld photo. I have often many difficulties with this.

Silver Argiope (Argiope argentata(Fabricius, 1775)) - French Guiana, France - March 5th 2012

Silver Argiope (Argiope argentata)
Canon EOS 40D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.
F/6.3, 1/160 s, 400 ASA. Focus distance: about 20cm.
I have first seen the underside of the body which is much darker and I had to bend some stems of grass to shoot this picture.

Rainbow Whiptail (Cnemidophorus lemniscatus(Linnaeus, 1758)) - French Guiana, France - March 6th 2012

Rainbow Whiptail (Cnemidophorus lemniscatus)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/5.6, 1/200 s, 400 ASA. Focus distance: about 1.8m.
I like the contrast between the bright colours of the lizard and the dull colour of the habitat where I have observed it.

Edible Frog (Pelophylax kl.esculenta(Linnaeus, 1758)) - Saône-et-Loire, France - May 11th 2012

Edible Frog (Pelophylax kl.esculenta)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/6.3, 1/1000 s, 200 ASA. Focus distance: about 1.8m.
I have shot this picture while I was testing my floating hut for the very first time. As birds flew away from my hide, which was rather disappointing, I turned my camera towards the numerous Edible Frogs which were surrounding me.

Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis(Linnaeus, 1758)) - Saône-et-Loire, France - September 18th 2012

Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)
Canon EOS 40D, EF300mm f/4 L IS USM lens.
F/4, 1/200 s, 400 ASA. Focus distance: about 5m.
This picture is cropped.
I have shot this picture during the second try session with my floating hut. I did not move very much as water was much deeper than expected.
This Common Kingfisher is a female as indicated by some orange colour on the lower mandible of the bill.
The perch is guaranteed as 100% natural, far from the ones installed by photographers trying to shoot a better picture than competitors.
